Description

Since my last tutorial was apparently to complicated for people to understand, I literally did a step by step process using my paint tool windows and fun red circles to help guide those who have not used paint before, or who aren't literate it art brush lingo.

F.A.Q.
1. What is a curve tool?
:bulletred:I demonstrated that in this tutorial.

2. How did you erase the color?
:bulletred:I used the eraser tool.

3. Why are your lines so neat? How did you do that?
:bulletred:Practice. I have been making bases since before I actually made this account, so I just got good at it.
4. How do you do ((insert something obvious here))

:bulletred:Look I can only help you so much, you literally just have to practice and get better and find out what is most comfortable for you. This is just my way of doing it, it is not the only way. Find out what you are good at and go from there.

5. You know there is an easier way to do it like, ((insert their way of doing bases))
:bulletred:Yeah your input is literally pointless to me, I am doing it this way because that is how I am used to it and I am not really interested in changing my methods. Stop saying this to me. Really.

6. I don't have Ms Paint!! ((Complain about my methods or something))
:bulletred:Let me tell you a thing, because if you own a PC, and have Windows on it. Windows being the operating system which allows you to use your computer ((Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Ect...)) You have Ms Paint. Ok, you have it. Trust me it's on your computer. It is the program called paint, only it's official name Is Microsoft Paint, Ms Paint. Because you know, Microsoft owns Windows who Owns most of the Pc brand and is the most commonly used operating system ((sorry Mac users idk what to tell you don't ask me I hate Apple Brand stuff))

7. How do I screenshot??
:bulletred: For one thing this question is pretty irrelevant to making a base and idk why you need to know. It varies from keyboard to keyboard and has nothing to do with operating systems. Google it, really this is 2014, learn to google it and educate yourself on how to do it.

8. Is the image technically mine?? Can I use a copyright Image??
:bulletred: Finally, an intelligent question, the answer is really no. You cannot use a copyright image, like this one, to do the thing I am doing to make a base. Using someone's artwork, without their permission, and altering it is not right and you can get into major trouble for that.

I try to never use copyright images that belong to an artist online because, as an artist myself, I classify it as stealing. I have had my original artwork stolen from me, and it sucks.

I use screencaps because I am less likely to get in trouble for it, because the screencaps belong to hasbro and they are a very large company and wont crack down on me to hard for making bases of their images.

The best thing you can do is the same, use only screen caps from whatever show you want to make a base of, credit the owners of the image, and link to where you found the image.

But yes, making bases like this is technically illegal, but I am not to worried about it. Yolo.
That is why base makers are always under fire. I try to keep mine on the down low, and eventually I am going to delete all my bases that were not created using a screen cap.

9. Did you do this using Layer??
:bulletred:I promise you I did not. This is me. On Ms Paint. Using only the tools they have on that program. You don't need Photoshop, Sai paint tool, Artweaver, or any other type of fancy schmancy drawing program.

10. Isn't this just tracing??
:bulletred:Yes, yes it is. Which is exactly what I explained in question number 8. I am not to worried about the repercussions of making traced bases. As I only use screen caps.

However, just because it is traced, doesn't mean it isn't helpful.

That is how I learned to first draw, to color, to do anything artistic. I traced, I copied, and I learned form it.

Doing bases has helped me understand anatomy much better, and has allowed me to expand my horizon on different types of art styles. To you this may seem like a cheap trick to get people to like me, but really I'm just trying to help people get their start on their art career.

That is all I want. I got better using bases, and I hope those who want to pursue art as a career use bases to. It really does help. SO I don't care what you think of me and my traced bases. In the end it has made me a better artist.
