Base Tutorial: All in One, How to Make a Pony Base

Description

Here is another Tutorial, I hope this helps!

In case you can't read it, this is what it says:
---
:bulletred:Step 1: Outline
-Pick a color that will stand out!

:bulletpurple:Trace the outline of the pony using a 1 pt thick line. You have to guess what is under the mane sometimes, but it gets easier the more you do it.
:bulletpurple:Follow the original lines as best as possible, its ok if the thickness is inconsistent sometimes.

:bulletred:Step 2: Eyes
-Fill in the outline of your base, using the bright color.

:bulletpurple:Use a different bright color to trace the eye.
:bulletpurple:Use another different color to trace the highlights and whites of the eye.
:bullet purple: For now use yet another different color to trace the main part of the eye.

:bulletred:Step 3: Fill it in!
-Cover all of the eye! Leave no spaces!

:bulletpurple:This is where you can choose to highlight the eye with multiple colors to mark where the shading should go. This part is optional, the eye does not have to be shaded
:bulletpurple:Make sure you get all of the white and highlight of the eye!

:bulletred:Step 4: Fill it all in!
-This part is by far the most tedious and boring, but muddle through it.

:bulletpurple:Make sure the entire pony is one color, to do this it is easier to accomplish with a bright noticeable color. It makes it easier to see if you missed any spots.
:bulletpurple:Make sure to erase and replace any strange looking lines that could potentially make your base look awkward.

:bulletred:Step 5: Background
-This part is also tedious, I suggest putting your music on shuffle and just having some type of head canon during this process (its what I do)

:bulletpurple:Unless you are doing a specialty background, its best to use a bright color to fill the background.
:bulletpurple:Then replace the background with a nicer color, I use the Deviantart green because it looks less gaudy and obnoxious.

:bulletred:Step 6: Color!
-THis is the fun part.

:bulletpurple:You can color in the pony now with the colors you want to make it look nicer than just a mix match of ugly bright colors.
:bulletpurple:Personally I just leave it the original color of the pony to give the base user a sense of who the base was of before it was a base~

You do know it's NOT ok to trace another artist's piece and turn it into a base, right?
I mean, it's great you credited the original.
But it literally says in the Da Copyright Policy(found here:about.deviantart.com/policy/co…)

"It doesn't matter how you obtained the material, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission."

"It doesn't matter whether or not you've credited the proper owner, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission."

"It doesn't matter if you are not selling it or making a profit, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission."

"It doesn't matter if you can find other people using things without permission, it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission."
"It doesn't matter if you've edited it a little bit or made a few alterations, if it's recognizable it's still considered copyrighted and you still need permission."

You shouldn't be teaching people to do this- they're going to end up banned. ^^;
